NYC Adventures

In a little under a month my dear friend, Erin and I will be taking a much needed weekend trip to one of my favoritest places in the world...New York City. As I am ridiculous and a little OCD...I am putting together an itnerary for our little trip. Erin and I have discussed the "must-dos" for the weeknd and now I am putting everything together in hopes that in 2 and a half days we can fit it all in. The number one thing we both want to accomplish (besides food...which by the way we have already picked out the places we are going to and may or may not have already chosen what we will eat from the menus) is shopping. We are both saving up to go on a major shopping spree while we are there, and even get in some early Christmas shopping as well.

Here are some of the cool places that are on our list (and some items I need to have from each)-

1. H&M-Don't even get me started on the fact that there is not one of these in Charlotte, and that they opened one in Raleigh instead....come on people that's just dumb.
I need these...

2. Topshop-This British brand has finally made its way stateside...with 2 stores one in Chicago and the other in NYC.
This coat definitely says Chanel, but for a lot less.

3. Zara-Everytime I go to Europe this is always on my list of places to go, and they have also finally started to open some stores in the States.
This Leather jacket needs to come home with me....ohh and this dress too.

4. Beacon's Closet- I think Erin and I are the most excited about this great thirft shop located in both Manhattan and Brooklyn.
If only my feet were smaller...

5. Alter-another great little store in Brooklyn that we need to hit..
This jacket is cute too...and a lot cheaper than the one at Zara.

6. FAO Schwarz-the iconic NYC toy store...Erin has never been inside...maybe I will get her to play the large piano from the movie BIG with me ;)

7. American Girl Store-Long gone are the days when I used to tear each new AG catalog to shreds as soon as they arrived and circled and made list of each thing I wanted for Christmas. Now not only can you buy online there are also several stores in the US. Would love to one day take my niece here, but for now will have to make a pit stop for a little early Christmas shopping.
Umm excuse me how cute is this...

Taking a Style Challenge

Happy Monday!!!!
So I hinted on Friday, about a style challenge that I gave myself and am being bold and brave in writing this post so that all of my 4 followers can keep me accountable.
Do you ever notice that you are wearing the same thing over and over and over? We sometimes can get in the habit of having a uniform especially when days get busy and loaded up with other things. This past week I was house sitting for some sweet pups and one of the perks was actually having cable to watch. I mean like for real cable not the $12 cheap stuff. So I got to catch up on a lot of Food Network, HGTV, and Bravo, which happens to be the home of The Rachel Zoe Project.

First off can I tell you how much I love Rachel Zoe? I mean she is an amazing stylist with a list of clients that is insane. She has a reality show on Bravo and it is fascinating to watch. So needless to say I have been mesmerized and have gotten caught up on this season of the show.
The downside is realizing what a schlub I have been lately in the fashion department. This saddens me to no end because as most people know I love fashion. If given the choice between an amazing pair of shoes or food....it would be the shoes...I can survive on Ramen people I am telling you. So I have decided to take on a fashion challenge in the month of October. Starting October 1st....no more just throwing on whatever is clean and not stained, throwing my hair in a ponytail, and putting my make up on in the car. (Shh.....don't tell anyone about that last part.) For the next month I will indulge in the beauty of my favorite time of year with a little Fall Fashion. Here are the rules of the game..

1. No repeats-That's right no more uniform-I will have to work my wardrobe into 31 outfits for 31 days.
2. No more car makeup sessions and lazy ponytails-I am going to actually wear eyeliner, and make an effort with the hair, and shocker not run around with chipped nail polish like I am a twelve year old.
3. Accessorize Correctly-this involves actually switching out my purse and not throwing on the same necklace just cause it is the only one sitting in my car or on my dresser.

I am going to attempt to take a picture of each day's outfit; not only to help me remember what I have worn, but also as some accountability and maybe even some fashion inspiration for the like 2 people who are reading this right now. I can't promise it will be some fabulous posed thing...let's be real here it may just be an instagram pic, but hey its the thought that counts right?

So this week is all about getting my closet and my mind ready for the challenge ahead....as Barney Stinson would say...

Vegas...

Ok so this post is almost a month late, but hey better late than never, right? So Labor Day weekend Kendra, Shaynah and I headed west to Las Vegas to celebrate Kendra's 30th Birthday. It was a great weekend and so much fun. We lounged on the roof top pool, ate lots of really good food, and gambled just a little. (Ok hardly at all...I played one slot....casinos don't really need my money and I rather spend it on a pair of shoes...am I right?). So I present to you Vegas in pictures....

PS. I have given myself a little style challenge starting October 1st...more details to come...

First stop....of course....and still a line at 11:30 at night.

Wait....something isn't right here..
